James Torlakson is an American realist painter whose work celebrates the poetry of everyday Americana. His subjects include suburban landscapes, roadside attractions, fireworks stands, and personal still life arrangements drawn from his Bay Area surroundings. Through these familiar scenes, he reveals the beauty embedded within ordinary moments.

Though technically precise, Torlakson’s realism is not simply about replication. Instead, he reshapes and reinterprets the visible world to create images that feel both nostalgic and vividly present. His paintings and etchings have been widely exhibited and are held in museum collections across the United States.
